A little Bit about NCTD
What is it?
Nor Cal Top Dragster is a fast bracket racing association open to most types of NHRA compliant race cars. All cars must be self starting and dial 8.19 or quicker except at Top Gun Raceway, it is 8.52. We have an “all run” field; no bump.
We encourage you to come out and race with us. If you can dial 8.19 or quicker and your car meets NHRA safety requirements then we want you to race with us. If you do not want to join the association right away you can race with us for an additional $25 fee paid with your entry of $150 per race. If you race with us and decide to join our association later we will count any non-member race fees paid towards your membership dues. Membership is $100 for the year and you can join anytime during the season. We are working on “t” shirts for members, a banquet at the end of the year and other perks to be announced.
Who runs it?
NCTD is managed by a Board of Directors. Our goal this year is to give the association the boost to grow and be recognized as an important organization in west coast drag racing. We are hoping to have more cars compete in our races and increase our membership to include those racers who will return year after year.
How’s it work?
We encourage you to go as fast as possible while maintaining your car in good safe working order. All cars are also required to have a properly installed engine diaper for the safety of all the cars at the track. Every car is required to tech at the track prior to the first round of qualifying.
Points will be accumulated towards end of the year gifts and cash prizes. Race entry is $150 for members and $175 for non-members.
Extra Info
We are also very lucky to have Jim McCombe – the voice for Drag Racing – traveling with us this year. He will announce for us at the tracks and handle our publicity in National Dragster. The 2009 schedule is printed in the February 13th edition of National Dragster on pages 41 and 43 – thanks to Jim and his commitment to our group.
We will have extra event activities at the tracks – such as “Dialing 4 Dollars” for cash during qualifying. Drivers who want to participate buy in for a small fee and the car who comes closest to their dial-in without going under during the 2 qualifying runs can win some cash. Come on out and compete and have fun with Nor Cal Top Dragster. “Go fast, go straight. Or don’t go at all”.
