About NCTC

Nor Cal Top Dragster will now be called Nor Cal Top Comp; effective March 6th, 2010. Nor Cal Top Comp is a fast bracket racing association open to many types of NHRA compliant race cars. All cars must be self starting and dial 8.19 or quicker except at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, NV where the slowest dial in is 8.52. We have an "all run" field with no "bump."

NCTC is managed by a nine member Board of Directors consisting of fellow racers and car owners. After a very successful 2009 race season; our goal this year is to continue the growth of the association. As an up and coming west coast drag racing association, we offer an affordable family oriented way to race fast and have fun. Many of our teams qualify to race NHRA Top Dragster and Top Sportsman Divisional and National events. We also welcome other teams (car owners) with slower dragsters and other body styles to run with us.

We set club records in 2009 for car counts and cash payouts. We had a ten race schedule at three different tracks; for 2010 we have at least 14 races scheduled at five different tracks in Northern California and Western Nevada. We had twenty three paid members and had 34 different drivers race with us.

We encourage teams to go as fast as possible while maintaining your car in good safe working order. All cars are required to have a properly installed engine diaper for the safety of all the drivers on the track. Every car is required to pass the tracks tech inspection and drivers are required to have the proper credentials for E.T. class and type of car. If you can dial 8.19 or quicker and you and your car meets NHRA safety requirements then you’re invited to join us.

Membership is $100 for the year and you can join anytime during the season. Race entry is $150 for members and $175 for non-members. If you decide to join our association we will credit any additional non-member race fees ($25.00) you have paid towards your membership fee. The end of year banquet is the highlight of the race season.

Points will be accumulated towards end of the year trophies or gifts and cash prizes.

We are also very lucky to have Jim McCombe – the voice of Drag Racing – traveling with us again this year. He will announce for us at the tracks and handle our publicity in National Dragster. The 2010 schedule should be in one of the March 2010 editions of National Dragster – thanks to Jim and his commitment to our group.

We will have extra activities at the tracks – such as 50 / 50 Raffles and “Dialing 4 Dollars”... Drivers who want to participate in “Dialing for Dollars” buy in for a small fee and the car that comes closest to their dial-in without going under during each of the 2 qualifying runs can win some cash. Come on out and compete and have fun with Nor Cal Top Comp. “Go fast, go straight. Or don’t go at all”.
